Dalai Lama Visit
His Holiness the Dalai Lama will speak at a public event at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 9:30AM. This event is sponsored by the Interfaith Hunger Initiative, the Indiana Buddhist Center, and the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Interfaith Hunger Initiative and the TMBCC.
General admission tickets are $25/person, $15/student and may be purchased in person at the Conseco box office, or through Ticketmaster (additional charges will apply for Ticketmaster purchases).
Logo Contest
The new and improved Alaskan Artists Gallery, formerly the Alaska Artists.com has a whole new look and added features for Alaskan artists to connect to and interact with other artists and customers. We need a logo for our new site, and we'd like you to design it.
Entries will be displayed on site and the general public will be allowed to vote on submissions.
You must be a member of Alaskan Artists Gallery to enter.
The winning artwork will be the official logo of Alaskan Artists Gallery, and will be used on the website, as the official badge for the gallery, and in other advertising for Alaskan Artists Gallery such as fliers and postcards. Winning artist will receive credit for logo wherever it is used ~ "logo designed by your name here"
If you are an Alaskan artist, and you have a piece of artwork that you'd like to submit to be the official Alaskan Artists Gallery logo contest, simply join the Logo Contest Entries group and upload your submission.
Haiti Art Fund Auction
As time passes and new events occur around the world, the urgency once felt about Haiti may seem to diminish. However, for those people in Haiti, the need perhaps is even greater as the sheer extent of the devastation becomes evident.
To help Haiti in it's greatest moment of need, more than 100 artists from around the world have donated over 200 pieces of artwork for the Haiti Art Fund Auction. There are a wide selection of drawings, photographs, paintings, mixed media work, and prints all about 5x7 in (13x18cms) in size. The artists who are participating in this project are listed on the supporter's page, however the works themselves are not attributed. you can only find out whose work it is if you win the bid. There are artists whose works are in reputable museums and private collections. Some have been subjects of documentaries and others have had books devoted to their work.
This is a rare opportunity to obtain exceptional works of art at affordable prices (bids start at US$10) and contributing to a humanitarian effort at the same time.
100% of all proceeds from the winning bids will be donated by the winners directly to their choice of UNICEF, Partner's in Health, Habitat for Humanity of Oxfam.
This will be a silent auction held on line. The auction has already started and will end at 11:59p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on March 31st, 2010.
Works donated by Hardluck Studios include: Wake Up Before You Die In Your Sleep, Keeping Karmic Time, Fragmented Peace, Earth Peace, Spring Fairy, Little Miss Cush, Evolution of Freedom, Oil, Nirvana, and Dreaming.

Keeping Karmic Time Donated to Katog Choling
This 18 by 24 inch painting was created by Dubh as a reminder to keep vigilant watch of the mind in each passing moment. Proceeds from sale of this painting will be donated entirely to Katog Choling, a Buddhist organization under the direction of Khentrul Lodrö Thaye Rinpoche. "The primary aim of Katog Choling is to preserve the buddha dharma and culture of Tibet. By doing so, it Khentrul Rinpoche's heartfelt aspiration that it serve to benefit beings in this country, in Tibet, and the entire world by protecting many from suffering of body and mind, and spreading peace and happiness in all directions and to all realms of the universe now and for aeons to come like the radiant sun that benefits us all."

Action: In a piece of cotton (30cmx30cm) draw, paint and/or write expressing your urgent demand for peace and love in the whole World. No to wars, crimes, hunger, destruction of our planet, destruction of human beings (special children), etc. In our Global Village we want LOVE&PEACE.
This piece of art can be done by a family while talking about the need of peace&love. Schools may also participate by creating several pieces. Professional painters and amateurs are equally welcome.

Purpose: In April I will sew together all the paintings I have received, to a big flag belonging to the Peace&Love Global Village. Then I will propose this flag to be shown in some art exhibitions here in Denmark or abroad. Finally, at the very end I will donate this flag to an organization working for peace and love.
